I have a passion for gardening. During summer months, my husband and I will come home from work and then work outside until dark many days during the week. Gardening grounds us, and the results fill me with joy.
We have a rather large multi-level deck, and I garden it as well. I've created zones of pots, a favorite which is the area off of the kitchen. Each year, I build a wall of Coleus in window boxes around our outdoor dining area. Here's a photo of our 2017 Coleus wall...
I had heard that Coleus was easy to propagate from cuttings, so I decided to see if I could do that over the winter.
At the end of the season, in the Fall, I took cuttings of my summer Coleus. I removed all but a couple of leaves at the top and placed them in water.
Once they had grown roots, I planted then in pots.
I installed grow lights over tables in our basement-level garage, and they grew and grew.
I moved them all outside during Memorial Day weekend. It would have been sooner, except we kept having frost warnings!
The rain has been a bear this Spring. Since weekends are generally the time I have to work on hobbies, it has taken a full month to get these babies potted up. Today, I begin delivery to favorite clients. I'm so appreciative of their business; I hope they will feel the love. :-) ***See Coleus delivery Part 2 below***
Coleus delivery Part 2 - The first part of Coleus delivery took place the day before we left for our vacation in Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. I placed the second half of plants into commercial kitchen trays on the front walkway while we were away, and the house sitter watered for me. Now I'm ready to complete my mission to share Coleus. :-)
