Albemarle County has divided the Grayrock neighborhood into 3 areas. Grayrock Orchard is a community of 131 properties just off Jarmans Gap Road on Jarmans Lake Road. Grayrock North on Lanetown Way consists of 27 properties. The newest area is Grayrock West, with 13 properties located off Lanetown Way on Kendall Court. However, the local real estate system combines all 3 areas into one name: Grayrock.
When you enter the Grayrock area you realize why it is a popular place to live. This is because it is very pretty with beautiful mountain views and nice landscaping with trees. In addition, folks might be out and about walking their dogs or tending to their yards. There are cul-de-sacs and 11.5 acres of open space with 2 ponds. It is quiet and peaceful. Properties are 1/4 to 1/3 acre in size. Homes are 1-3 stories with garages. Also, the architecture is modern in cape, colonial and farmhouse styles. Construction is wood, brick, and/or stone. Development began around the early 2000s in the Jarmans Lake Road area. It has continued through recent years. Another plus for this community is the Grayrock Homeowners Association. One of the loveliest features of the Grayrock area is that it is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.The very popular Claudius Crozet Park in town is a mecca of outdoor sports venues. Nearby is the beautiful Mint Springs Valley Park for hiking and fishing. Crozet has many wonderful amenities with just about anything you may need nearby. Groceries can be bought at Crozet Great Valu (Crozet Market) in town and Harris Teeter and Brownsville Market just outside of town. In addition, the town has UVA Family Medicine and Sentara Crozet Family Medicine. Also, there is a library, a variety of restaurants and shops, the wonderful Crozet Hardware Co. and Starr Hill Brewery.
Of important note, this area is rich in culture and the arts. Also, there is the bi-annual Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival. The Crozet Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Crozet is only 15 minutes from downtown Charlottesville and UVA. Above all else, the small town feel, not far from the city, in a beautiful area makes this a great place to live.
