Chris Greene Lake Park
This 239 acre Albemarle County park has just about everything you need for an enjoyable recreational time by the lake. Activities include swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, and having a picnic. Also, there is a dog park.
Ivy Creek Natural Area
A wonderful place to spend time walking and hiking only on 6 miles of trails by the Rivanna River. Unlike other area parks, this special area is run by the Ivy Creek Foundation. The foundation offers on-going educational events for children and adults. The events include bird watching, history, naturalists’ studies, and field trips.
Preddy Creek Trail Park
This Albemarle County park offers 10 miles of trails for hiking, running, mountain biking (only) and horseback riding. Some trails venture into Greene County and along the border of Orange County. Also, there is a new advanced mountain bike trail!
Shenandoah National Park
We are so lucky to have this national treasure almost in our backyard! It is only 1/2 hour drive from Earlysville proper to the Swift Run Gap Entrance on Skyline Drive. This large and beautiful park offers education, hiking, camping, lodging, fishing, cycling, and so much more! The fact that it is along the Blue Ridge Mountains makes this a very special place to visit. This is because of its natural beauty and scenic views.
