We often hear from people who are considering retirement and looking at options for Senior Living in Charlottesville VA. We are delighted to have the opportunity to introduce newcomers to the area!  This is because Charlottesville is rich in cultural activities, along with recreation and educational opportunities. Also, there's very good energy here!  As a result, Charlottesville and surrounding communities have become a hotspot for active retirees. And there are great places for Seniors to live in the Charlottesville area!

First of all, Charlottesville is a fun place to be! The Charlottesville area has so much to offer in terms of what to do and see for all age groups. While things to do might include walking the Downtown Mall in the city of Charlottesville, you may also enjoy the many fine arts and music venues. Affordable housing can be found through JABA, the Jefferson Area Board of Aging.  JABA services the city of Charlottesville along with the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson. JABA is a federal mandated area agency for the aging. This agency assists in all aspects of Senior Health Care. In addition, some of the many services provided are Community Senior Centers and Adult Day Care Centers with transportation. A Friendly Visitors program, Health Insurance and Medicare Counseling, and Home Delivered Meals are also available.

Independent Senior Living:

Independent Senior Living in Charlottesville VA and the surrounding area can mean many things. Senior living can be owning a private home in a Senior Residential Community. (You can also own your home space in a large facility with life stage options.)  Good examples of Senior Communities with privately owned homes are Branchlands in Albemarle County and Four Seasonsin Ruckersville (Greene County). Ruckersville is a 25-30 minute drive from Charlottesville. The Ridges at The Lodge at Old TrailWestminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge, and The Colonnades are fine examples of Independent Living facilities. This is because they have tiered life stage options. Most of all, you can move from independent living on to Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Long-Term Care. Also, The Blake at Charlottesvilleis one of the newest Senior living facilities.

Assisted Living facilities in the Charlottesville area usually offer all of the amenities of home. There are no worries of having to do it yourself. This is because the amenities may include on-site dining options, laundry service, and a beauty shop. Also, many have a library, a woodworking shop, and gardening activities. Most have a walking trail, a swimming pool and fitness center, etc. Rosewood Villageoffers several types of options for assisted living, depending on your needs. In addition, many offer transportation to and from anywhere locally you need to go. Some places welcome your pets or visitors bringing pets along!
